Rainbow Six Siege and Resident Evil Collab Announced

Earlier this year, Ubisoft and Capcom announced that they would be collaborating on a small crossover between Rainbow Six Siege and the Resident Evil series. The crossover took the form of a costume bundle for one of the playable operators, Zofia, which dressed her up as Jill Valentine, specifically how Jill appeared in the very first Resident Evil game. It turns out that wasn't to be the last collaboration between the two companies as a second one has recently been added to the game.

Much like the first one, it's only another cosmetic set, this time for the operator Lion. This collaboration decks him out in the outfit of another of Resident Evil's most popular protagonists, Leon S. Kennedy, who has previously starred in Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil 6, and the new Netflix show Infinite Darkness.

Surprisingly, rather than it be Leon's police outfit from 2019's Resident Evil 2 Remake, (which currently stands as one of the best selling entries in the whole series), Ubisoft and Capcom have opted for his Resident Evil 4 attire instead. The announcement trailer even heavily references that game, with Lion using Leon's knife skills and roundhouse kicks on crows.

It's not too surprising that they would go with Leon's Resident Evil 4 appearance. Although the remake of the second game may be more recent and fresher in fans' memories, Resident Evil 4 remains incredibly popular even 16 years after it released. Initially a Nintendo Gamecube exclusive, it has since been ported to multiple platforms and is available on all modern consoles. It's so popular that many fans argue that it doesn't need to be remade like the first three games were, although Capcom reportedly has a Resident Evil 4 remake in active development.

Aside from the outfit, the Lion Elite Set as it is called includes headgear, a victory dance, a Drone gadget skin, weapon skins for the V308, 417, SG-CQB, P9, and LFP86, as well as a R.E. Elite Lion Charm that can be attached to weapons. And best of all, it's available to download for Rainbow Six Siege right now.

This comes just days after another content expansion for Rainbow Six Siege's sixth year. This one saw a new operator added to the game, Osa, who Ubisoft would later confirm to be transgender, a decision made as part of an effort to make the game's roster more inclusive. She is equipped with tactical robotic shields which she can use to protect herself and her teammates.

Rainbow Six Siege is available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
