Siege, Contain, Extract, Repeat
The follow-up to Ubisoft’s very successful Rainbow Six Siege has been pushed back to January, but not to worry. That just gives more lifetime to Siege. Rainbow Six Extraction is quite a tonal shift from Siege, so we are going to need some time to adjust.
How did we get from competing counter-terrorist groups to fighting an extraterrestrial infection? Well, we might get our answer in the upcoming Rainbow Six Siege Containment Event. Starting tomorrow, players will be able to play the Containment Event until the last week of August.
In a trailer released today, we see what appears to be the beginning of what Rainbow Six Extraction is all about. The Consulate map becomes a point of contact with the Archæons. In a new mode called Nest Destruction, the two sides will either fight to destroy the nest or to preserve it.
It appears that the team on the side of preservation are Operators that have been infected by the Archæons. Whatever the case, the Operators will soon be returning to fight on the same side in Rainbow Six Extraction.
This is a limited time event, which will be taking place between August 3rd and August 24th to give Siege players a taste of what is to come in January. Rainbow Six Siege is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. Rainbow Six Extraction will be coming out in January 2022 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Stadia.
