Redditor Inflatable Cover Protect Controllers Gamer Rage

Ever found yourself precariously perched on a ledge in your favorite RPG and a slight shift of the stick causes you to fall, losing all the progress you’ve made in the last hour? Or have you ever been facing off against another player in a first-person shooter and end up on the losing end of the firefight? These scenarios are common amongst gamers and tend to lead to what has been lovingly referred to as a rage quit, or an event that ends with a thrown controller and something broken. Well, one man has made an odd, but kind of useful, invention to help ease the pain of these situations: The Rage Quit Protector.

Created by UnnecessaryInventions on Reddit, The Rage Quit Protector is an inflatable bubble that you can slide your controller into with hand holes to allow ease of use. Whenever a rage quit occurs and the controller is thrown, the bubble will prevent any damage coming to those precious, and expensive, pieces of equipment. A video posted to Reddit shows off the inventions use as the player, in a rage, throws down their PS5 DualSense controller. Instead of smashing against the floor, The Rage Quit Protector causes the controller to bounce a few times before resting, seemingly unharmed, on the floor. Which is a relief considering how great those DualSense controller are. You can check it out for yourself below:

While this invention seems to be more of a joke than anything else, after all the Reddit post is prefaced with “I design unnecessary product prototypes,” according to many of the comments for the post it may be something players would get use out of. Some of the commentors note that this would actually be a great accessory for those expensive controllers with some saying “add a vent fan and I am in” and others commenting that he failed on creating something “unnecessary” as this seems "very necessary."

Though, this may be the only “necessary” invention from this user as a quick search through his other inventions lead you to things like a questionable-looking corn on the cob butterer and a keyboard that will only type your passwords. Still, this Rage Quit Protector may not be a bad gaming accessory, what do you think?
