Yesterday, we learned that Ethan Winters can go out of his way to hunt animals in Resident Evil Village. Their meat can then be used to cook meals and upgrade his stats permanently. A new video by Game Informer better illustrates how this works, the various animals that can be hunted and the kinds of meals that can be prepared by The Duke.
As an example of permanent upgrades, Ethan can consume a meal that will permanently decrease the damage taken while guarding. Of course, there is a risk involved as you’ll need to spend ammo to hunt the animals. Some will even fight back if given the chance. The Duke will also upgrade one’s weapons using a currency called Lei, which is obtained on killing foes.
You can also find hidden treasures in the environment which can be sold for Lei. Along with reduced weapon sway on the F2 Rifle and a hair-trigger on the shotgun, Ethan can upgrade his pistol’s rate of fire, ammo capacity and power. Resident Evil Village is out on May 7th for Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, PC and Stadia. It will receive a new trailer and gameplay on today’s Resident Evil Showcase at 3 PM PT so stay tuned for more details.
