XSEED Games have announced the release date for Edelweiss’ Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin.

As stated in the press release (via email) the game is developed by a two-man team Edelweiss (Astebreed). Players control Sakuna, a bratty harvest goddess who was banished to an island with outcasted humans. Exploring the island, she finally finds shelter in a mountain village, where she harvests rice and tries to live up to her role as a goddess.

This also involves battling back monsters with farming tools, and using divine raiment to grapple around the world and foes. Sakuna will also have to master agriculture to help the village thrive, while the humans make new weapons, armor, and food for her.

The press release details the Divine Edition. This retail version includes the game, an 8.2″ x 5.8″ artbook with over 130 pages, a full 3 CD 42 song OST, and a 2″ x 3″ Japanese omamori charm (“to bring owners good luck in combat and farming”).

The Divine Edition is available for pre-order for $59.99 via the the XSEED Games Store and participating retailers.

The heroine is part of a pantheon of gods and demons inspired by traditional Japanese mythology but featuring many unique twists. The story and world are filled with lovingly rendered details, some familiar and some completely original.
