The original Sonic the Hedgehog movie was already a smash hit, but the sequel has officially left it in the dust. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 has earned $331.64 million in global box office sales with little sign of slowing any time soon. That number makes the film the highest grossing video game movie of all time in the US.

Given the generally negative reviews that video game film adaptations receive, it’s a great testament to the quality of the Sonic movies that the franchise has managed to now produce two hits on this level. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is currently in theaters if you have yet to watch it (or need to see it for the fifth time).
