If you’re a South Park fan, we’ve got good news. As Bloomberg reports, South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have just signed a deal with ViacomCBS Inc. for over $900 million over the course of six years. For shelling out almost a billion dollars, ViacomCBS secures the future of South Park in what’s described as one of the biggest TV deals in history.
It’s mostly about television, with six new seasons and 14 made-for-streaming movies set to debut in Paramount+, the first of which will arrive before the end of the year. But Matt and Trey also plan to use at least some of that money to invest in a weed company, create a documentary series, and create “a 3D video game that is set in the world of South Park.”
South Park is no stranger to the world of video games. With 11 titles that span over four generations of consoles and mobile, South Park has achieved at least as much success in games as it has on TV. The latest two South Park titles, The Stick of Truth and The Fractured but Whole, were published by Ubisoft to generally positive reviews.
It seems like the game is in the planning stages at the moment. At this point, there's no word on who will develop or publish the new South Park game.
