In any competitive shooter, a player's choice of weapon can change the tides of battle. The free-to-play FPS Splitgate is no different. With a variety of guns to choose from, it can be a challenge to figure out which weapon works best, and when – especially with a game that combines Halo-inspired combat with portals. Fortunately, YouTuber XclusiveAce did the math to discover which guns perform the best overall, along with some interesting tips on how to use them.
The video covers the majority of weapons that are available to players: the carbine, pistol, assault rifle, battle rifle, SMG, sniper rifle, plasma rifle, railgun, rocket launcher, and the shotgun. The only weapon that appears to be missing is the new BFB, the giant bat that players use to smash their enemies. The melee weapon was only just recently introduced into the game; likely too late to be covered in the video. But the rest of the available guns are covered to their full extent. Damage, recoil, and reload speed are just a few stats explored in XclusiveAce's video, along with a visual demonstration of how each gun works. Each of these stats are crucial in a competitive setting, especially since skill-based matchmaking is making its way to Splitgate here soon.

Overall, each weapon appears to have its own strengths and weaknesses. While the battle rifle is great for headshots, it requires a lot of precision from the player. On the other hand, the railgun is a solid 150 damage, regardless of where it hits the enemy player. But the reload is unique in that it requires a charge-up. Considering that winning matches increases the XP that players receive, it would be wise for more competitive players to learn the tricks of each gun. That XP can help Splitgate players earn loot drops, which give special cosmetic rewards.
After posting his findings, the developers at 1047 Games shared XclusiveAce's video via the official Splitgate Twitter. And within the same post, they revealed some interesting stats of their own; the official stats of each weapon in the game, including the new BFB. At a glance, it appears that each individual weapon is quite balanced compared the others.
Because Splitgate is currently in its beta stage, the developers are keen to point out that weapons are "subject to change down the road." The stats that players see now may not be what they get once the game fully launches. But gun-play isn't the only thing that 1047 has been working on. Since 2019, the small indie team has been working to fix various bugs, add new content, and lower the alarming wait time for matches. Now, as announced during its most recent Q&A, Splitgate is also going to receive the next-gen upgrade for Xbox Series X/S and PS5, just in time for the game to finally leave its beta stage sometime this month.
Splitgate is set to release in August on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
