Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin Trial is Broken, Square Enix Working to Resolve

If you watched the Square Enix Presents: Summer 2021 E3 showcase yesterday, then you no doubt caught the announcement of Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin. Developed with Team Ninja, the hack and slash title is set in the same universe as Final Fantasy 1 as Jake and friends fight to slay Garland/Chaos. Square Enix also announced that a trial version was live for PS5.

However, those who downloaded it found the demo to be corrupted and unplayable. The developer responded on Twitter, noting that it was “aware of issues being experienced” and it’s currently working to resolve it. There will be an update tweeted “as soon as we can” so fans will have to sit tight and wait.

It’s probably not the best look for the title whose announcement trailer inspired mixed actions (mostly due to the main character’s design and overuse of the word “Chaos”). Nevertheless, the trial will provide a better look at what to expect gameplay-wise. It offers multiple weapons and Jobs for players to choose from, though progress made won’t carry over into the full game.

Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin is out in 2022 for Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and PC.

We're aware of issues being experienced while trying to download and play #StrangerOfParadise #FinalFantasy Origin Trial Version.

We're working to resolve this issue and will tweet an update as soon as we can, we appreciate your patience.
