System Shock Remake PC Pre-Orders Kicking off in February, Final Demo Coming Soon

Nightdive Studios have been working on a remake of System Shock for some time now, but it seems it’s inching closer and close to launch. In fact, pre-orders for the remake are going to go live very soon (for PC players, at any rate).

In an update on the game’s Kickstarter page, the developer confirmed that pre-orders for System Shock’s remake will go live at the end of February on Epic Games Store, Steam, and GOG. What’s more, a final demo of the game will also be coming at the same time, and will feature a host of improvements, including “the medical level, cyberspace level, full dismemberment, all newly recorded voice lines, and a ton of additional features and polish.”

Nightdive Studios has also announced that anyone who pre-orders System Shock will also receive System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition for free (as will all Kickstarter backers who pledged $30 or more). Interestingly enough, as per the developer, the System Shock 2 remaster “has evolved into more than what we were intending.” Nightdive are completely porting the game over to the KEX Engine, remaking all the characters and and weapon models, and even including several fan-made mods into the core game.

Finally, the developer also confirms that a standalone VR version of System Shock 2 is also in the works, but hasn’t said much else about that. “More news on that later,” the update reads.

The System Shock remake is due out for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, though there’s no word yet on when pre-orders for consoles will go live- though the final demo will be coming to consoles at a later date.
