While Tell Me Why takes players on a story-based adventure, the game also features many puzzles that are well thought out, taking a slightly different avenue than Life is Strange. Because of this, players may get stuck as they follow the story of twins Alyson and Tyler as they rekindle old memories. Unlocking Mary-Ann’s door is one of the first puzzles that the player will come across, and some may need a jump start to get through the rest of the puzzles the game has to offer.
After the player arrives in Delos Crossing, there are a large number of puzzles that greet them. To solve many of them through Tell Me Why, the player will have to use the Book of Goblins and the stories inside it. The door puzzle is a nice way to introduce players to the more complicated puzzles that they will face throughout the course of the Xbox Game Pass title.

The door has three dials that have animals carved into them. In order to find out the sequence that they need to be positioned to, the player needs to look through the Book of Goblins and specifically read through The Princess’s Party. The story will tell players of a challenge that the Princess was faced with due to some trickster fairies.
In the tale, Princess must guess who gave her which present. The first box contains a torch that reveals the truth when lit, while the second box housed a sword that would defend its welder on its own. The third and final box gifted the Princess with a small bag that would provide her with a few coins when she would need them.
These three gifts correspond to the three animals that will unlock the door. The player must follow the Princess’s footsteps and identify who gave her which gift, and in doing so, they will identify which animals need to be shown on the door. Each gift is associated with a character trait of an animal — one who doesn’t want the Princess to get lost, one who wants to protect her, and one who is generous.
Looking through the stories of the various animals in the Book of Goblins, it is revealed that the animals are moose, bear, and pelican. When the animals are positioned in this order on the door, it will unlock, and the twins will be able to see what Mary-Ann has hidden behind it.
Tell Me Why is full of interesting details and character interactions as Tyler, the first trans character from a major gaming studio, and his twin sister Alyson delve into the mystery as to what exactly happened ten years ago.
