WarioWare is an innovative series known for inventing new control methods with almost every entry. It's a frantic race to adapt to new challenges constantly flying at the player. Sometimes, it's an intense competition where several players compete or cooperate through minigames. However, one thing that WarioWare is consistently known for is it's characters. These regulars and their personal stories are often the highlight of the WarioWare experience, and part of the fun is seeing what new mischief everyone has gotten up to.
The upcoming Nintendo Switch game WarioWare: Get It Together! Appears to have a good understanding of this, and is finally allowing the series’ growing cast to be playable in all of its microgames. In most modes, the player will choose a set of characters, and will have to adapt to whichever ones are selected for the next short game. The cast is already composed of WarioWare’s shining core members, but a few will definitely be more exciting to play than others.

The big man himself, Wario is the face of both this game franchise and his own game company: WarioWare, Inc. Wario’s insatiable greed gets him into all kinds of antics throughout the franchise, but things always work out in the end (even if his get-rich-quick schemes fail). He impressed fans quite a bit with his efforts to return to villainy in WarioWare Gold. Yet despite how self-centered and revolting he tends to be, he’s the mutual friend that brings the rest of his employees together. Mona even used to have a crush on him, apparently, and whatever villainous charisma makes him appealing in the real world also works in his games.
Speaking of Mona, the talented and stylish high schooler is another WarioWare regular. Despite attending school, she finds the time to work a massive number of part-time jobs over the course of the series. Mona has been a gelato worker, a pizza delivery girl, a bandleader, a cheerleader, an explorer, and a reporter, and has also shown some talent as a fashionista and a dancer. Much of this is done in the company of her red scooter, which old-school fans will remember from her most famous appearance as the delivery girl for Mona Pizza. Mona fills a necessary “casual” spot in the roster, and hopefully her story segments will be just as fun to see as ever in the upcoming Switch WarioWare.
The young 9-Volt is remembered fondly for other reasons. An elementary schooler who loves Nintendo games, 9-Volt is known for the elements surrounding him and caused by him. Namely, his pet Fronk, his mother 5-Volt (who has been immortalized in the “Gamer” mode and Super Smash Bros. stage), and the retro microgames he always brings to the table. Because 9-Volt is such an avid Nintendo fan, all of his microgames cross over with Nintendo games. Some, like his classic boss game that takes the form of a fighting game pastiche with realistic versions of Mario and Bowser, are a bit more original than the rest. Either way, his fellow gamers can rest assured that they’re always in for some nostalgic goodness when 9-Volt is around.
Finally, there’s Ashley the young witch. The most brooding member of the WarioWare group, Ashley is a particularly popular character among fans. Her magical adventures are often well-received, and she gets some sympathy points for struggling to interact with other people while earnestly wanting to make friends. Much like Mona, Ashley has also had a very memorable vocal theme that has been in Super Smash Bros. since Brawl, which probably helped her join Smash as an Assist Trophy. With her cutesy horror mishaps and faithful familiar Red, fans like to see more of Ashley.
WarioWare: Get it Together! will release on September 10, 2021 for Nintendo Switch.
