The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword has often been regarded as the black sheep of the franchise in the year’s since its launch, but is going to get a new lease of life soon when it launches with revamped visuals and gameplay improvements for the Switch. With its release right around the corner, reviews for it are going to be rolling in soon, and the first of those has arrived, courtesy of Famitsu.

The Japanese outlet has awarded the game a total score of 34/40 (via Ryokutya), with two each of its four reviewers scoring the game 8/10 and 9/10. Issues with the game’s motion controls are brought up, specifically with how the controls often require recalibration, which can be a little immersion-breaking (though the review does point out that button controls are also available).

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD is a pretty conservative upgrade over the original, but Nintendo has confirmed several improvements for the game, including improved motion controls, less overbearing tutorials, free camera movement, autosaving, and several other quality of life upgrades.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD launches for the Nintendo Switch in a couple of days, on July 16.
