The Witcher: Nightmare Of The Wolf Is Streaming On Netflix Right Now

Vesemir's origin story that puts him in a bath tub like dear ol' Geralt is finally here on Netflix. It's an anime prequel to The Witcher from The Legend of Korra's Studio Mir.

However, it isn't an adaptation of any of Andrzej Sapkowsi's novels. Although, inspiration no doubt came from many of the short stories and anecdotes told in those very books. It's an original tale from Netflix about a character who we know and love from the games, a character who is debuting in the next season of The Witcher.

You may know him as the old Kaer Morhen grump we meet at the start of the first and third Witcher games from CD Projekt Red, but in this film, he's younger, slicker, more athletic, and in a bath tub. Did I mention the bath tub? It's become a staple. You can watch the movie right now on Netflix as per your subscription.

Vesemir is being played Killing Eve star Kim Bodnia in the second series but, in this origin story, Divergent's Theo James is voicing him. Meanwhile, Lara Pulver is Tetra, Graham McTavish is Deglan, Mary McDonnell is Lady Zerbst, and Tom Canton is Filavandrel.

While Theo James voices a younger Vesemir, significantly younger than the one we see in The Witcher and The Witcher 3, there is another actor stepping in as 'young Vesemir' – really, it should be younger Vesemir. He's a spring chicken as is, but David Errigo Jr. will bring him down even further.

At any rate, the anime is an action-packed spectacle that seeks to do things that would otherwise look outlandish in live-action, but it's still a human-driven story at its centre.
