The original Ty the Tasmanian Tiger was successfully crowdfunded back in August of last year, with the HD remaster having since launched on Nintendo Switch to the delight of series fans. Now, in what the team at Krome Studios is billing to likely be their last update on Kickstarter, word has come that fans might be able to look forward to a console port of Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2: Bush Rescue HD.
“We’ve already started looking into the coding work to bring TY2HD to consoles,” said the team in its Kickstarter update. “It’s already been remastered in HD on the Steam platform (for PC). Textures, effects, user interface updates, etc.” Although it sounds like the brunt of the work has already been done upgrading the original Ty 2 for Steam, Krome Studios will nevertheless need to dedicate time and resources to get it on console.
“We learned much bringing TY1HD across, but we have to start back at square one and figure out what we can update and improve. Nothing is happening on the console front this year. So, we’ll let you know early next year about another Kickstarter or news on a TY2HD release, or *shrug* anything else that might come up.”
Fingers crossed that fans will get a chance to play Ty 2 on Switch at some point in the future!
