Walmart Restocking PS5 and Xbox Series X Consoles Later Tonight

Despite releasing almost a year ago, the demand for both the PS5 and the Xbox Series X/S has yet to diminish. Whether its due to the new games releasing for each system or the ongoing impacts of COVID-19, both the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S console stock continues to come and go almost instantaneously. Luckily, one of the retail outlets that sells both consoles will restock later tonight.

The ridiculously high demand for both next-gen systems has in many ways made the simple act of purchasing a console a game unto itself. Both the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S have gone in and out of stock following their initial release, with the PS5 receiving the exact same treatment. Though, one retailer will have console stock available for both systems very soon.

Earlier today, Walmart restocked both the PS5 and the Xbox Series X/S, but unfortunately, the high demand for both systems caused the stock to sell out rather quickly. However, Walmart will be restocking both systems later tonight at 6 PM PT / 9 PM ET. Although, given how quickly stock tends to sell out, those who wish to purchase a console will have to do so the minute the restock goes live on Walmart's website.

While it is nice that retailers like Walmart have continued to remain reactive in terms of restocking next-gen systems, there are problems that make it impossible for most people to get their hands on either a PS5 or an Xbox Series X/S. Since the release of both systems, scalpers have been taking advantage of the scarcity situation, with a significant number of PS5 consoles being scalped for high profits.

There have been preventative measures taken to lessen the amount of scalping activity for new tech, but that sadly hasn't resolved the issue entirely. The fact that the Steam Deck is already getting scalped despite it not even being commercially available yet is clearly indicative of how rampant scalpers have become.

This makes attaining a PS5 or Xbox Series X/S at retail price a nearly impossible task for people just looking to purchase a new console. It will be interesting to see when the demand for both systems starts to decline. With any luck, other retailers like Best Buy, Amazon, and Target, in addition to Walmart, will be able to keep up with the demand in the meantime.
