Warzone's weapons have received a significant balance update via the game's latest patch in an attempt to increase the game's time-to-kill.
Weapons in games like Warzone and Fortnite are changed and tweaked all the time. Whether that be a nerf, a buff, or the item being vaulted from the game entirely. However, Season 4 Reloaded, which begins today, will usher in what Raven Software has labeled “the biggest balance update in the history of Warzone”.
Assault rifles are the weapons most affected by the changes. Raven has reduced the multipliers players receive for hitting enemies in the torso and head with these weapons. The purpose of doing so is to reduce the game's time-to-kill. Some LMGs have been hit with the same treatment, while submachine guns have actually undergone a few buffs and tactical rifles have remained more or less the same.

This isn't a case of Raven pulling up the sliders for each weapon and randomly moving them up and down. It explains that the changes have been made to each weapon in relation to the damage that can be done with the others. “These weapon adjustments were not made in a vacuum… they were made holistically and in a way that supported a lock-step increase in average TTK across multiple Weapon categories,” it explains.
Other than attempting to increase the time it will take for you to kill an enemy, the changes have also been made to prevent one weapon from becoming a favorite for almost everyone playing the game. That tends to happen no matter what a development team does, but Raven is keen to stop it from happening as much as possible. ”We do not want players to feel they are at a distinct disadvantage for not conforming to the generally accepted ‘best weapon',” the update reads.
Warzone's Season Four Reloaded kicks off today so you can dive right in and get a feel of how the game's weapons have been changed. Raven has other problems on its hands too as the eternal quest to rid Warzone of cheaters continues. New tech that claimed to allow players to cheat on consoles surfaced recently, but Activision has already had the site taken down.
