XScreen Turns The Xbox Series S Into A Laptop

The Xbox Series S is the light alternative next-gen console from Microsoft. It's not portable, though. At least, not yet, but xScreen, the newest viral Kickstarter project, seeks to amend that.

In only 20 minutes, this new venture hit its funding goal. UPspec Gaming's new invention, xScreen, is an attachable monitor that you can combine with your Xbox Series S to transform it into a laptop of sorts, giving it an overhaul that means you don't need a TV to boot it up and get into the fun.

As for how good the monitor actually is. It's 11.6 inches, 1080p, and has a refresh rate of 60Hz. It also has built-in speakers and doesn't require its own power source, meaning that you won't clog up your space with more cables getting this to work. While you can slot the screen into place, you don't have to take it off when you're done. Instead, like a laptop, it'll fold neatly flat, letting you put your Xbox Series S away for use later without having to hassle putting it all back together.

The way that it works is by attaching a rectangular box with USB and HDMI connectors into the back of the Xbox, slightly extending the Series S' behind. The monitor is attached to the top of this box meaning that when you've plugged it in, you're done. Simple. There's a video that details this process by way of a short gif with a child doing it in only a couple of seconds.

Currently, the project has made £38,001 of its £7,040 goal. However, you can still pledge money to get rewards as there are 29 days to go until it wraps up.

If you pledge AU$ 1 or more, you gain "access to exclusive updates." Meanwhile, for AU$ 259 or more, you will actually get an xScreen on launch.
