It took almost a full year, but we in the west are finally getting our hands on the latest entry in the Yakuza series, Like a Dragon. The title is a big change up for the series, from a brand new protagonist who is a polar opposite to what we played in the previous titles, to a battle system that changes the very foundations of its gameplay. The game will get an English localization, which Sega has highlighted, as well as confirming (again) when we can get our hands on it.
First up, we get to see the voice behind one of the characters, Masato Arakawa. He is the main antagonist of Like a Dragon, and is a huge foe being the current governor of Tokyo. He will be voiced in the English version by Will Yun Lee, who voiced Kung Lao in the more recent Mortal Kombat titles.
Alongside the video, we also got reaffirmation of the current generation and PC versions’ release date. If you recall, they were originally announced to come out on November 13th, but it was then announced that the Xbox Series S and X version would be moved up to the 10th to coincide with the launch of those systems. While it was assumed the other releases would stay on the 13th, Sega sent mixed messages by refusing to clarify when asked. But with the new trailer, they have done just that.
We now know when we’ll be able to play Yakuza: Like a Dragon: November 10th for Xbox Series S/X and November 13th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The only version without a solid date is the PS5 one, which is only said to be coming “later.”
