Fans have wanted Dead Space to return for many years. Finally, those wishes are coming true with a remake of the first game for current-generation consoles. This is great news for fans of EA's survival horror franchise and it has us thinking about all the other incredible games that deserve the same treatment.

The ten games below are all classics, but they would definitely benefit from a remake. Either the originals are hard to access today or they are products of their time and a remake could update and perfect some of the flaws. With the number of remakes gamers receive on a regular basis, any one of these is possible.
10 Silent Hill 2
This horror classic is considered one of the best games of all time. Unfortunately, it is difficult to play an optimal version today due to the re-release for Xbox 360 and PS3 being notoriously poor ports. A remake should retain most of the original's aspects while making it more visually impressive than ever. 20 years later and the narrative is still extremely impactful, so you wouldn't have to change much about the core plot.
9 Resident Evil: Code Veronica
Current rumors point at a Resident Evil 4 remake. It would make more sense to remake Code Veronica, however. The original utilizes tank controls, so giving it the same treatment as the recent remakes would help make it more accessible. It would be a bigger project since Code Veronica has more environments and it is significantly longer than the PS1 games. It would be a real treat to see the unique monsters from this entry in the updated RE Engine.
8 Deadly Premonition
Deadly Premonition is a unique tale but is not void of jank. The story takes direct inspiration from shows like The X-Files and Twin Peaks and includes just as much weirdness. A remake could help polish up the rough edges and make a cult classic into a mainstream success. It would also help people forget the sequel, which is of notoriously weaker quality.
7 Alan Wake
With Remedy's new shared universe putting Alan Wake and Control into the same continuity, it would only make sense for a new version of Alan Wake to come out.

Those who play exclusively on Sony consoles have no way of playing this supernatural thriller. Control's second DLC, AWE, marks the titular character's long-awaited return, so a remake would help people catch up on the story. If not a remake, at least give fans a remaster.
6 F.E.A.R.
F.E.A.R. is one of the most intense first-person shooters in several ways. The actual gunfights are visceral and unpredictable thanks to the game's advanced and dynamic AI. Additionally, being hunted by Alma is terrifying. The second game was a worthy follow-up, but the conclusion of the trilogy was an action-packed cooperative fps that strayed far from the series' roots. A remake would help revive the series if it retained the same type of shooting. The developer should definitely make the environments more varied, at least in the art design.
5 Clock Tower
The unique thing about Clock Tower is the focus on a single antagonist. Only one threat chases the player throughout the game. Recent horror titles like Remothered have taken direct influence from the Clock Tower series.

It is hard to tell if a remake would retain the hardcore puzzle elements or if it would lean more into survival gameplay mechanics. Maybe it should do a little of both.
4 Eternal Darkness
As much as we'd like to see a remake of this GameCube classic, any developer potentially tackling the project would face a huge hurdle. Eternal Darkness was so impactful because its scares were so unexpected. A remake could not simply recreate the same moments and expect the same reaction. It would have to go for something entirely new to try and subvert expectations. Pretending to corrupt save files would not freak gamers out the same way the second time around.
3 Sweet Home
Sweet Home, which is based on a Japanese horror movie, is the spiritual predecessor to Resident Evil. In fact, the 1996 survival horror classic started out as a remake of Sweet Home before it became its own idea. Sweet Home still has unique traits of its own that make a remake valuable. There are RPG mechanics and several playable characters one can switch between.
2 Parasite Eve
Parasite Eve is a turn-based RPG on the PS1. It takes place in modern-day New York City on the night a deadly science experiment unleashes itself on the metropolis.

This alone makes it stand out among the crowd of PS1 JRPGs. Even more than 20 years later there is nothing quite like it, which would make a remake logical. Fans are still clamoring for a revival of the series, so a remake would bring in new fans while pleasing those who loved the original.
1 Dino Crisis
This is one of the most requested horror game remakes. Considering Capcom remade most of the classic Resident Evil games, a Dino Crisis remake seems likely in the future. It would be interesting to do both PS1 titles because the first game is a more direct Resident Evil clone while the sequel is more action-packed. Dinosaurs never go out of style, so a Dino Crisis revival would be just as timely today as it was in the late 1990s.
