Moss Book 2 Confirmed For PSVR At Sony’s State Of Play

A sequel to PSVR title Moss has been announced, titled Moss Book 2.

Shown off during Sony's State of Play, a surprise announcement of a sequel to PSVR platformer Moss kicked off proceedings. Similar to the first game, the player will take on the role of Quill as she journeys deep into the hexed castle of the Arcane. Moss Book 2 will build upon the story of the first game and will see Quill fight a winged tyrant that is relentlessly hunting her.

Unfortunately, we didn't actually get even a vague release date so it's currently unknown as to whether Moss Book 2 is close to release. It's also unknown as to whether Moss Book 2 will launch on the current version of PSVR, or if it will be one of the first titles on Sony's new virtual reality machine coming at some point in the future.

A recent report has hinted that the PlayStation VR 2 is slated for a Holiday 2022 release, and Sony announcing a new VR game is definitely a hint that this new VR system could be releasing sooner than we might expect. It would be strange for Sony to release a new VR game for PSVR on PS5, especially considering the system is only playable on the current VR system with an adapter.

If you've never heard of Moss before, the game is essentially a charming little platformer fairly similar to Astro Bot: Rescue Mission. The game has the player guiding protagonist Quill across numerous environments from a single viewpoint as she solves puzzles and defeats dangerous creatures on her way to save her uncle from the evil serpent Sarffog.

Collectibles are scattered throughout each level and can only be found by moving your head and looking into areas that would be otherwise unaccessible without the help of VR motion. Moss was also praised for its approach to accessibility, having Quill communicate with the player via sign language. While the game is much easier to access on PlayStation VR, Moss is also available on Oculus Quest.
