Developer Tripwire Interactive has announced that Maneater Truth Quest, a DLC pack announced on April Fool's Day this year, will be making a splash landing on all platforms (PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S) on August 31, 2021. Going for $14.99 / €14.99 / £12.99, players will embark on a brand new quest to uncover the truth around Port Clovis and the Naval Wildlife Organization while narrator Trip Westhaven commentates on their journey.
That's not all that will be heading to the game. The maximum level cap for players has been increased to 40 and will be accompanied by new evolutions and an additional organ slot (think loadouts). The bounty hunter system is also getting additional bosses and enemies units that will hunt you down if you get a little too bitey with tourists. The waters will also see extra opposition with new Uber predators getting thrown into the mix.

If Truth Quest sounds cool but you're not completely sold, a short "Pilot Episode" will be available to try out. Acting as a demo of sorts, this short episode will contain about 10-15 minutes of gameplay and include some of the new objectives that players can look forward to with a purchase. It's not exactly clear if you'll download it as part of an update or have to navigate your console's digital storefront to find a new demo, but you won't need to blindly jump into Truth Quest.
All things considered, it's great that Maneater is even getting DLC. The game swam mostly under the radar before release but would go on to become some people's GOTY for 2020. We need more silly, mid-tier games like this to offset the ridiculous bloat of triple-A development.
