"Rarest E-Reader Card Of All Time" Is Selling For More Than $1500

A gamer has discovered an incredibly rare Kirby e-Reader card for the GameBoy, and bids for it are already past $1500.

As reported by Nintendo Life, the card in question is a promotional Kirby e-Reader card that was given out on the E3 2002 showfloor. Those who received the card would then scan it with the e-Reader to find out if they'd won a prize or not.

The card was printed in 3 variants, one that would give no prize, one that would give a 2nd place prize and the grand winner card that would give a 1st place prize. According to Press The Buttons, there were only 10 winning cards available on the show floor, with around 100 second place cards available. The prize that was received for these cards is not currently known.

Robert Anderson discovered the card and, after testing it with an e-Reader card, discovered that it's the 1st place winning card, making it an extremely rare piece of Nintendo memorabilia.

What makes this card even rarer is the fact that all of the winning cards were destroyed, presumably after being redeemed at E3 2002. The card that Robert currently owns must not have been redeemed on the show floor. Robert posted a video of the card being scanned in an eReader, showing that it somehow still works 19 years later.

After discovering how rare the card is, Robert has posted it on eBay, calling it the "rarest eReader card of all". As of the time of writing, it's currently up for bid for a whopping $1500. Considering how other pieces of Nintendo history have sold recently, it's likely that this card will continue to rise in price, especially considering how unique of an item it is.

Although there are a lot of examples of promotional eReader cards in Nintendo history, the Kirby card is particularly rare because it only appeared at E3 2002, and is a winning card for a one-time promotion where all the other cards would be destroyed.
