Grounded has just gained its first boss, the terrifying Hedge Broodmother, in the Shroom and Doom update. Players with the guts to face her should stock up on items and equipment before facing her. The Broodmother's fight is very difficult.
That being said, before a player can fight the Hedgemother, the player has to find her. And in true Grounded fashion, the search itself is its own trial.

Not only do players need to find the Broodmother's burrow, but in order to start the fight, they need to use an item called the Broodmother BLT. And the recipe is deviously well hidden.
The recipe can be found in an Omnient Outpost in the hedge biome. It looks like a circular white pod and is near the top of the hedge's tangled branches. It can be seen from the ground floor if a player knows what to look for.
Retrieving it will be an exercise in platforming. Players should prepare a dandelion tuft to soften their fall, and prepare for fights with Grounded's flying enemies.
The journey to the BLT recipe starts in the Hedge Labs. Players enter from near ground level, and take the curving path up, consistently taking left turns, until they find a room with a broken window and a zip-line. Be on guard for spiderlings and orb spiders on the way there.
Ride the zip-line, but jump off halfway, landing on the roof of another part of the lab. To the player's immediate left is a path curving backwards. Following that path, the player will see a branch with berries growing on it, crossing over the roof.
Follow the path of that branch, and eventually, the player will see the outpost. It takes a bit of tightrope walking, and those not playing Grounded online should consider using quicksaves, but once they get close, the outpost door opens automatically. The recipe is on the desk to the player's left.
Having the recipe is one thing, but using it is another. The ingredients it calls for are two ladybug parts, two bombardier parts, and one thistle needle. Players also need an oven to craft it.
The oven can be unlocked by buying the advanced production buildings from BURG.L, which requires getting a chip from the recently added Haze Lab. They then need 10 clay, 1 charcoal chunk, and 4 boiling glands to craft it.
Arachnophobes don't have to worry about accidentally running into the broodmother, but the current process feels slightly too obtuse for a player to find without looking things up ahead of time.
Grounded is out now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
