A team of 3D artists is using Unreal Engine 5 to create an episodic mini-series and retell the story of fan-favorite Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic. Episode One is already announced to release by the end of this summer.
Knights Of The Old Republic is an iconic game, repeatedly called the best Star Wars media of all time, and now the team named Unreal Cinema is working on creating a KOTOR-inspired movie series, using high-quality CGI graphics. The idea is to release the full story of the original BioWare game in the new format of short episodes.

The creators have been working on the adaptation for at least a few months now, starting in April. The project has even been approved by Lucasfilm under certain conditions, like not using crowdfunding or monetizing, as well as presenting it strictly as a fan film. After that, the Unreal Cinema team shared its work-in-progress and announced the voice-over casting for the series.
You can keep an eye for the project moving forward on its Youtube channel, already full of interesting stuff. There are all-new models of Bastila Shan, Darth Revan, HK-47, Trask Ulgo, Carth Onasi, and Darth Bandon, as well as recreated opening cinematic. Whole new characters, like the recently unveiled Sith Acolyte, will also make an appearance, with the potentially extended story and even some new locations.
While we can only guess what the KOTOR Episode One will include, we’ll likely be getting the opening on Endar Spire, as well as a bit of Taris planet. Considering the announced episode length of 30-60 minutes, we’ll probably see Dantooine sometime down the road, despite all the latest videos being dedicated to the planet’s Ancient Ruins, where your journey actually starts.
While you wouldn’t be able to play this new KOTOR, there’s a potential remake in development at Aspyr Media, known for its mobile ports for both titles in the franchise. With that in mind, the studio’s next project could be more akin to a port for modern consoles rather than a fully-fledged remake.
For more Star Wars games, EA has just confirmed it will continue "investing" in the Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order games, hinting at the potential sequel in the coming years.
