When you get to Inazuma, the first thing you want to do is explore all the new locations that Genshin Impact has to offer. Upon arriving at Kannazuka Island, though, you will learn that there is a huge portion of the island that you can't explore because it's encased inside of an electro shield.

In order to break it down and complete one of the region's lengthiest quests, you will need to begin the Tatara Tales. Tatara Tales can be a bit confusing to complete, especially when you realize that it's tied to real-world time partway through. The guide below is here to walk you through the different phases of the Tatara Tales quest.
How to Start Tatara Tales
- To start the quest for Tatara Tales, head to Kannazuka and go to the top of the Kujou Encampment.
- Here you will walk into a conversation between a priestess named Miyuki, who is talking with a member of the Shogun's army named Toranosuke.
- After they complete their conversation, walk over to Miyuki and speak with her to begin the quest.
Quest Tip: You will need to do part of Tatara Tales to unlock the Sakura Abroism quest.
- You will now need to go to the outskirts of the Mikage Furnaces shield and speak with Xavier to get things moving.

How to Complete the Tatara Tales Investigation
You will need to walk around the furnace looking for rifts; these will require you to do a bit of work to investigate.
- The first rift will require you to fight Fatui agents before investigating.
- The second rift will require you to chase an Electro Seelie before investigating.
- The Third rift will be blocked by a normal electro shield, use the nearby Sakura Bough to gain entrance and investigate.
Once all three rifts have been investigated, the quest will prompt you to once again speak with Xavier.
Using the Kamuijuma Cannons
Xavier will now want you to break the shield containing the Mikage Furnace; to do this, you will need to use the three Kamuijima Cannons. Xavier will provide you with a map that shows the location of each cannon.
- To make this task a bit quicker, you should start with the Kamuijima Canon located near the Kujou Encampment and work your way down.
- The cannons are relatively easy to get through, but you will need to use Electrogranum to power them, luckily, a Sakura Bough is located close by each canon.
- Each Kamuijima Canon must be adjusted into position in order to his the rifts.
- This may take you a few tries, but it is easy to do and should take you less than a minute each.
- Once you have hit all three rifts, the shield will break, allowing you access to the Mikage Furnace area.
- You will need to speak with Xavier again, who will send you to the top of the furnace to take a picture using the in-game photosystem.
- Once you snap a picture, deliver it back to Xavier to start the daily Tatara Tales quests.
Keep in mind that the Mikage Furnace is full of Naku Weed, so be sure to pick the plant up while doing the quest.

Completing the Tatara Tales Daily Quests
Now that you have completed the bulk of Tatara Tales, you will need to begin the daily quests. After completing a quest, another one won't become available until the daily reset. You will need to speak with Xavier on seven different days in order to complete the Tatara Tales questline.
- Day 1: Bring Xavier Three Crystal Marrow.
- Day 2: Place three beacons around the Mikage Furnace.
- Day 3: Retrieve the three beacons you placed around the Mikage Furnace.
- Day 4: Use the in-game photo mode to take two pictures in the Mikage Furnace at the marked locations.
- Day 5: Bring Xavier Three Onikabuto.
- Day 6: Collect three Planks and then repair three paths in the Mikage Furnace.
Keep in mind that you will be awarded primogems for completing each daily task.
Tatara Tales Final Day
On the final day, Xavier will tell you that he is finally ready to venture inside the Mikage Furance and complete the repairs. There are several parts to this quest, and completing them will make the area safer to explore:
- Collect the three missing parts for Xavier shortly after entering the Mikage Furnace.
- Fight Through a Fatui Ambush.
- Reach the bottom of the area and begin the purification process; this will involve fighting a few waves of Fatui.
After defeating the Fatui, Xavier will send you to the top of the furnace, check the area out and then head to the Kujou Encampment to speak with Toranosuke and let him know that the situation at the Mikage Furnace is under control. Be sure to gather the keys scattered around the furnace and use them to get into the arsenal to receive the Katsuragikiri Nagamasa diagram.
