Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl Will Feature April O’Neil and CatDog

More characters are headed to Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl. Ever since the unveiling of Nickelodeon's Smash Bros-like fighter, fans have been interested in which characters will be added next. The original announcement started out with the likes of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, SpongeBob, and Reptar from the Rugrats. But now, thanks to a reveal during the Future Games Show at Gamecom 2021, fans can get excited about April O'Neil and CatDog joining the fighting game as well.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl brings a wide range of beloved characters from various animated classics into an over-the-top fighting game. Leading up to its launch in the Fall of this year, developers Ludosity and Fair Play Lab are continuing to share details such as the roster and stages of Nickeloden All-Star Brawl. Gamescom appeared to be a perfect time for the next announcements, and thus April O'Neil and CatDog both received trailers marking their entries into the fighter.

The trailers show off the movesets and designs of each character, and CatDog looks exactly as the duo did back in 1998. The character is very unique given the fact that there is a head on each side of the body, and Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl looks to take advantage of that. Whether it be wide-ranged aerial attacks, comical moves in which Cat swings Dog as a weapon, or Dog quite literally pulling out a fire hydrant, CatDog looks to be both a call back to the show and an addition to the game that will feel unlike others. Apparently, the hope is for Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl to be a competitive game, so CatDog may help with that.

In the case of April O'Neil, she looks a bit less cartoonish next to CatDog, but certainly not less viable. Her design is based on the 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, as are the rest of the turtles. Meanwhile, her moveset is based on photography. She uses a boom mic, flashes from the camera, and appears to be quite athletic. There will likely be plenty of fans selecting April in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl.

The release date for Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl has not yet been confirmed, but it appears to be high on the anticipation list of many fans. The fact that its roster spans cartoon stars from multiple decades certainly helps. It will be exciting to see how CatDog and April O'Neil fair up against the likes of the frightening Danny Phantom, a wilderness explorer such as Nigel Thornberry, and Powdered Toast Man.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl launches fall 2021 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
