Bethesda is once again asking you to play Skyrim. The epic RPG is receiving another upgraded version, this time for next-gen consoles. It will celebrate 10 years of the game. Yep. Skyrim is a decade old.

Skyrim can be played in a myriad of ways, though its extensive mod support has taken the original game to completely new places. This little guide will just cover how long it takes to beat the base game, including the story and achievement-hunting for completionists. You might need to stick another hour or two on our estimates: Skyrim's next-gen version will have fishing, too.
How Long Does Skyrim's Main Story Take?
According to various sources, including a few of our own here at TheGamer, the main storyline of Skyrim can take anywhere between 30-35 hours to complete. That's skipping past every sidequest, by the way. It really depends on your style of play, but those who just want to race to the end can do so.
If you want to complete the main story and the majority of the sidequests and extra events, then you'll need closer to anywhere between 60-100 hours. Again, this is really up to you, depending on how much time you want to invest in the game.

How Long Does Skyrim Take To Beat For Completionists?
Skyrim is a massive game. So massive that the term "completionist" should really take on a new meaning. If you want to complete every main quest, side quest, miscellaneous quest, get to max level in everything, buy every house, get every achievement, complete all the DLC and explore the entire map…well, that's a long time.
You're looking far beyond 100 hours for a completionist run. Somewhere beyond the 200 hours mark is probably more accurate, although some players have claimed that it took closer to 300 hours to actually 100 per cent Skyrim.
Add in the huge list of mods that you can play and it's pretty easy to see why Skyrim is still one of the most popular RPGs out there, and why, even after all these years, it's going to be released all over again. With over 500 new additions
