Doom Eternal Physical Nintendo Switch Version Cancelled, Digital Release “100% On Track”

Doom Eternal

Bethesda have announced that the physical Nintendo Switch version of Doom Eternal has been cancelled.

While a Nintendo Switch release date had not been confirmed, there had been unconfirmed reports of GameStop customers having their physical pre-orders of the game cancelled. In a statement given to IGN, Bethesda has now confirmed the game will be getting a digital only release on Nintendo Switch.

“While Doom Eternal is 100% on track for an imminent digital-only release on Nintendo Switch, the absence of a physical release at retail resulted in cancelled pre-orders. Affected customers will receive full refunds and should contact their preferred retailer for more information.”

The game is set eight months after the events of Doom (2016), with over 60% of Earth’s population wiped out by demons. The Doom Slayer returns, now with a satellite fortress, to rip and tear through the demonic forces and kill the three Hell Priests to end the invasion.

You can find the full rundown (via Steam) below.
