A Plague Tale: Innocence and Speed Brawl will be free on the Epic Games Store starting August 5, as the storefront has just revealed.
A Plague Tale: Innocence is a story-driven action-adventure game set in France during the Hundred Years’ War. Taking the role of a young Amicia who’s protecting her little brother Hugo, players have to survive against overwhelming odds in a brutal and unforgiving world. The game’s main feature is deadly swarms of rats providing constant tension while solving puzzles and escaping the Inquisition. Plague Tale is often compared to The Last of Us with its strong narrative and compelling characters.

Speed Brawl is a second freebie on EGS next week, and is perhaps the exact opposite of Plague Tale and its gritty mood. Speed Brawl is a bright high-speed 2D combat racer, where you need to drive fast and hit your opponents hard. The game has even local and online cooperative modes to play with your friends through the entire campaign.
Before you can get your hands on A Plague Tale: Innocence and Speed Brawl, you can grab two more games for your EGS gaming library right away. Mothergunship and Train Sim World 2 are available on the site starting now, and can be claimed until August 5.
As with all limited-time freebies on Epic Games Store, it’s yours forever once you’ve claimed it, and you can download the titles for free anytime you like.
Epic Games has made at least one game free on its store every week since 2019 and managed to give out a bunch of well-known titles, such as Grand Theft Auto 5, Control, Alien: Isolation, and Watch Dogs 2. PC players could have accumulated an impressive collection without spending a dime just by logging in to EGS every week since its launch.
If you enjoyed A Plague Tale: Innocence, you’ll be happy to know the devs from Asobo Studio are already working on a direct sequel called A Plague Tale: Requiem, which was announced during Xbox Games Showcase back in June. The project is expected to launch on Xbox Series X|S and PC in 2022.
