Brand New Cyberpunk RPG The Ascent Launched On Xbox Game Pass Today

Publisher Curve Digital and indie studio Neon Giant's latest release, The Ascent, is now available on Xbox Game Pass and for purchase.

You can play it solo or with up to two friends. It's a cyberpunk twin-stick shooter RPG available for Xbox One, Series X|S, Steam, and the Windows Store. You can pick it up at a 10% discount on Steam until August 5 for a total of £22.49.

The plot is that you are a worker in a cyberpunk dystopia ran by the Ascent Group which has its base of operations in a gigantic skyscraper that dominates the city's skyline. However, the company completely and suddenly dissolves overnight leading to a Game of Thrones-like showdown between all the city's businesses as they try to become the next monopoly. Naturally, you get caught up in the whole mess.

Back in May, we got hands-on with The Ascent and wrote up a preview where our lead review editor Sam Watanuki stated, "From the design of its open hub city to its combat, The Ascent pulled me into its world that feels like a healthy combination of Cloudpunk, The Fifth Element, and even Super Mario Bros. (the movie). I know what you're thinking, but that last comparison is absolutely a compliment."

Also joining the service today is another brand new release, Omno.

TheGamer gave a four-star rating out of five. We praised its "spectacular art direction, appropriate music, and host of fascinating ideas."
