Call of Duty Insider Shares Exciting Update On Modern Warfare 2

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019 won a lot of players over with its fresh approach to both the subseries and Call of Duty as a whole. As such, fans should be happy to know that the follow-up to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is supposedly making good progress.

A second game in the rebooted Call of Duty: Modern Warfare universe is hardly a surprise, with the next Modern Warfare likely releasing in 2022. An obvious step for Infinity Ward to take given the last game’s success, and the cliffhanger ending from its campaign, many are optimistic about the sequel. Fortunately, it seems like they have another reason to be hyped for 2022’s Call of Duty release. According to a well-known insider, Infinity Ward is “feeling very good” about its next game.

The insider in question is none other than @TheMW2Ghost, someone that fans have consistently gone to for early info on future Call of Duty content. While all leaks should be taken with a grain of salt, this particular insider has proven to be correct on several occasions in the past. As such, fans can usually be confident that this source's information is accurate. According to @TheMW2Ghost, the game is “farther ahead than projected” when it comes to its development. Additionally, there is still over a year left to finish the game, meaning that Call of Duty 2022 should be “in a good state” upon release.

Part of what makes this statement so intriguing is just how different it is from the Call of Duty 2021 rumors. According to various insiders, this year’s game – supposedly titled Call of Duty: Vanguard – has had an extremely troubled development. Rumored to be lacking content at launch, there is plenty of concern around the project due to these apparent development struggles. Considering that developer Sledgehammer Games was supposed to make Call of Duty 2020, these leaks do seem believable.

Regardless of how this year’s game turns out, though, it seems like fans can at least look forward to next year’s release. In the replies to the Tweet, @TheMW2Ghost added that their sources told them feedback from the first game is being taken into consideration. While many enjoyed the game overall, there were things that the community hated. The lack of a mini map, camper-friendly gameplay, and a lackluster Spec Ops mode all come to mind. Fortunately, the leaker claims that the sequel will “change a lot of the things” that gamers disliked about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019.

While it remains to be seen if it will become as iconic as the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, fans should be glad to hear that development is going smoothly. With the next Modern Warfare still a fair bit away, though, gamers will have to continue being patient.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is rumored to be in development.
