With Call of Duty having a big week following the long-awaited announcement of Black Ops Cold Warit seems fans are more hyped than ever to see what’s in the store for the seminal multiplayer shooter franchise. Following the first Black Ops as a direct sequel, Cold War will take place during one of the darkest moments in recent world history, allowing players to create their own protagonist and allegedly make crucial decisions with narrative-branching consequences.

Alongside the game’s reveal, this weekend will also hold the Call of Duty League Championship, seeing player teams pitted against each other in an effort to be crowned this year’s Call of Duty champions. However, while many are likely under the impression that the winners of this coveted crown would simply bag themselves a glorious trophy, it seems Activision has a more high-key prize for whichever team manages to clutch first place.

That prize is a literal Call of Duty throne. That’s right, Activision will be allowing the winners of the competition to reign over their eliminated opponents like royalty, as they sit upon a beautiful throne designed by none other than Sheron Barber. For those who aren’t familiar with Barber’s work, the designer has fashioned clothes worn by several big-name celebrities, including Drake, Billie Eilish, and Post Malone. The throne itself hasn’t been entirely finished, however, a concept has been shown by Barber and it clearly retains the aesthetic of some of his best work.

The throne itself will be customized for the winning team, with Barber supposedly etching in the championship date as well as the players and statistics from the League’s results. Overall, it’s an incredibly stylish reward and a striking symbol of dominance for whichever team manages to bag themselves the win this weekend. It will supposedly be awarded alongside the traditional Call of Duty League Championship trophy and rings.

Call of Duty will also have a big presence at Gamescom this week as well, with Black Ops Cold War confirmed to be making an appearance at the digital gaming convention’s opening showcase. It will be joined by a slew of incredible upcoming games, such as Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, World of Warcraft Shadow Lands, Little Nightmares 2, Star Wars Squadrons, and Fall Guys: Season 2. With Cold War set to star alongside such a star-studded line-up, it’s sure to be a huge day for the fans that decide to tune in.
