Call of Duty: Vanguard Teases Modern Warfare Connection

Call of Duty: Vanguard will have its full reveal soon, but in the meantime, Activision has been teasing the World War 2-themed game with brief teaser trailers. Naturally, Call of Duty fans have been tearing these trailers apart, analyzing them for any possible clues that they may be hiding. Thanks to these efforts, Call of Duty fans have found a possible connection between the upcoming Vanguard game and the Modern Warfare titles.

Eagle-eyed Call of Duty fans noticed an emblem in the Call of Duty: Vanguard teaser trailer that resembles the Task Force 141 emblem from the Modern Warfare series, though it's labeled Task Force Vanguard instead. This has led to speculation that there may be a connection between Call of Duty: Vanguard and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and while that has yet to be confirmed, it could be possible through the inclusion of one character in particular.

While Captain Price is most heavily associated with Task Force 141 and the Modern Warfare games, he actually made his Call of Duty debut in the World War 2-era games. As some may recall, a Captain Price is featured prominently in the original Call of Duty game as well as its sequel, the aptly named Call of Duty 2. This Price is not the same character as the Price featured in the Modern Warfare games, for obvious reasons, but they do look near-identical.

Perhaps this is a sign that the World War 2 version of Captain Price will be making a comeback in Call of Duty: Vanguard, though that seems highly unlikely. The more likely explanation is that this is just a nod to Task Force 141 without any real connection. All fans can do is speculate for now, as they'll have to wait for Activision to give Call of Duty: Vanguard its proper reveal before they can learn more.

While Call of Duty: Vanguard is still waiting for its big showcase, there have been many leaks about the game and what it will entail. Call of Duty: Vanguard is clearly set during World War 2, and if leaks are to be believed, it will have significant integration with Call of Duty: Warzone. Some reports have pointed to this integration including a brand new World War 2-themed Warzone map, but that has yet to be confirmed.

Meanwhile, leakers have been hyping up Call of Duty: Vanguard, though whether or not it lives up to the hype remains to be seen. After the game's reveal takes place later this week, fans will likely have to wait a bit before they get their hands on it, and then they'll have a much better idea of what to expect from it.
