Call of Duty: Warzone Seems to be Teasing the Arrival of Zombies in Season 2

Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War - Zombies

Call of Duty: Warzone shifted gears and aligned itself with Black Ops Cold War when the latter launched late last year, which means that it’s sort of a given the free-to-play battle royale shooter will get Black Ops-themed content in the coming year as well (it already has been, in fact). Some of that content might be getting teased within the game itself.

As Eurogamer reports, there are several hints within the battle royale game that it might be gearing up to add Black Ops’ zombies with Season 2. For starters, the Hospital section of the Warzone map has a Black Ops Cold War Zombies Trial Machine, and approaching it gives the following prompt: “ZAI/ACTIVATE_ZOMBIES”.

Meanwhile, entering the office on the new Rebirth Island map is also often accompanied by distortions in the screen and often speech and morse code. The speech is supposedly Russian, and according to Reddit user Wolf-of-icewrack, it translates as follows:

“Dispatch, this is Russian ship Vodianoy channel 1-2. Over.”

“This is dispatch, requesting shipping permit to Verdansk. Over.”

“Dispatch, cargo secured, all systems are fine. Get ready to go. Over.”

The current theory is that the ship is being used to ship Nova 6, which is a biochemical that’s often popped up in the Black Ops universe. In fact, you can even spot the ship, Vodianoy, close to Rebirth Island within the game itself.

Seeing cheeky hints for upcoming content that crosses over from other parts of the Call of Duty universe has become a common occurrence in Warzone, and the addition of zombies to the battle royale shooter would make a lot of sense, given how it’s tied into Black Ops Cold War right now.

We’ll find out soon enough if it amounts to anything, so stay tuned.
