Cobra Kai has been renewed for a fifth season. Netflix made the announcement today on the show’s official Twitter account, promising that "the dojo is about to be 5x as rad."
What’s interesting here is that Cobra Kai hasn’t even aired its fourth season, which arrives this December. Netflix doesn’t make bets on seasons that are years away from appearing, so this seems like a sign of the streaming platform’s confidence in the show’s performance.
At the end of season three, Cobra Kai escalated its rivalry with the Miyagi-Do Dojo by storming the LaRusso home while everyone's parents were at a Christmas party. The ensuing battle destroys the household but results in some old enemies switching sides as Robby decides to join Cobra Kai in the upcoming karate tournament. Kreese agrees to leave town if Cobra Kai loses the tournament, but his vow seems hollow as he calls up an "old army friend" to ensure Cobra Kai supremacy.

If none of that makes any sense, then you'll need to watch the four Karate Kid movies and then the first three seasons of Cobra Kai to get caught up. The show is a continuation of the film franchise and even has the original Karate Kid actor Ralph Macchio reprise his role as Daniel LaRusso alongside karate rival Johnny Lawrence (also played by his original actor, William Zabka).
More good news is on the way for fans of Cowboy Bebop. The Netflix live-action adaptation is set to arrive later in November as a fresh take on the classic anime. We got to see Spike, Faye, and Jet as portrayed by Johnny Cho, Daniella Pinenda, and Mustafa Shakir, but Netflix still hasn't revealed who will play the role of hacker prodigy, Ed.
