Dice Knows People Will Still Ask For Battlefield Bad Company 3

I’m one of the people who thinks Bad Company 2 was the pinnacle of the Battlefield series. Sure, you couldn’t go prone, but you could cover a quad bike in C4, drive it into an objective, and detonate it to bring the entire building down. Who needs to lie on the floor when you can do that?

Bad Company 2 also has some of the best multiplayer maps in the series’ history. Thanks to Battlefield Portal – a game mode creation tool that’s included in Battlefield 2042 – two of Bad Company 2’s maps are coming back, along with Rush mode. That’s great. But will it be enough to stop people asking about more Bad Company? I asked Ripple Effect GM Christian Grass.

“I would be very surprised if they do [stop asking] but who knows,” Grass laughed. “We are really happy that we got Bad Company 2 maps in there. Really good maps, of course. They're also going to be very different – playing Arica Harbor with 128 players is insane, compared to what it used to be. I think people will still ask for it, but who knows.”

As great as Battlefield 2042 looks, I’ll definitely keep asking for it. If you’re wondering exactly what Bad Company 2 content is in Battlefield Portal, there’s Arica Harbor and Valparaiso – those are the two maps included. But there’s also a selection of fan-favourite weapons and vehicles, as well as classes. You’re free to pit these against weapons, vehicles, and classes from Battlefield 1942, Battlefield 3, and Battlefield 2042. You will definitely be able to play Rush across all Battlefield 2042 maps, though.

Battlefield 2042 will launch for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on October 22 this year.
