Fan Creates Incredible World of Warcraft Style Map of Washington State

Activision Blizzard's World of Warcraft continues to inspire fans who express themselves through artistic means, with one recently creating a unique map. One WoW player just took their enthusiasm for the game's maps and created a unique one of their own.

Reddit user ConservationOfWumbo recently showed off their version of a map of Washington. The map is made in the same style as a map in World of Warcraft, including the torn and crumpled parchment edges. The map includes various Washington locales including Seattle, Spokane, Kennewick, and Mt. Olympus.

ConservationOfWumbo's map is fittingly colored to match what World of Warcraft fans would expect from a region with a wide range of landscapes. The farmlands are a yellow-orange, while the wooded areas are fittingly green, and the mountains are big brown mounds. The major roads going through Washington state are represented by a long branching path that cuts through the map just like roads in World of Warcraft.

Different elevations are displayed on ConservationOfWumbo's map in the same World of Warcraft fashion. Most of the cliffsides are located around rivers that branch through Washington state similar to the road going through the map. Just like the minor roads that go off the beaten path in World of Warcraft, some of the side roads of Washington are represented with a dotted line in ConservationOfWumbo's map.

Just as Washington residents would expect, Seattle is resting on the Pacific Ocean inlet near Tacoma. Vancouver is represented in the Warcraft-inspired map at the very bottom of Washington state near the border of Oregon. Just like neighboring World of Warcraft zones will be labeled on the edge of a map, Oregon is displayed at the bottom of ConservationOfWumbo's map.

This isn't the only state that ConservationOfWumbo has created a map in the style of World of Warcraft for. The Reddit user has also made maps for New Jersey, Texas, Virginia, and more. According to the Redditor, more states will get this World of Warcraft map treatment, but they haven't confirmed whether all of them will or not. Many of their maps can be found on Etsy in addition to Reddit.

Several Reddit users took to ConservationOfWumbo's post to suggest World of Warcraft-inspired maps of other states and even locations in other countries. Several fans in Canada requested that ConservationOfWumbo start making maps of Canadian provinces. Others claimed to learn about Washington's geography through this World of Warcraft-styled map, making it educational as well as artistic.

Some Reddit users suggested several other Washington state locations that should be added to this map including various towns, mountains, and roads. Some fans pointed out that Mt. Olympus would be the perfect location for a dungeon or raid. Most of the over 200 comments celebrated ConservationOfWumbo's work and encouraged more maps like it.

World of Warcraft is available right now for Mac and PC.
