There's a new studio on the block. Box Dragon actually formed earlier this year with a nucleus of former Stunlock and Riot devs. The trio then set up shop in Gothenburg, Sweden, got backing from Valheim publisher Coffee Stain, and started into pre-production on their debut game.
The three developers include game director Kevin Chang (who used to work as Stunlock's product manager of Battlerite), technical director Karl Bergström (who used to do the same thing for Battlerite), and art director Aleks Nikonov (who used to do character and environment art for League of Legends among other games). Between them are 30 years of game development experience just waiting to be unleashed.

These three form the core of Box Dragon but the studio is definitely looking to expand. There are six job openings on Box Dragon's site, including ads for game producer, programmer, sound designer, 3D character artist, graphics programmer, and gameplay & interface programmer. Box Dragon offers a competitive salary, a pension, help with relocation, flexible hours in a crunch-free work environment, and even exercise hours. Because they work in Sweden and Swedes understand the importance of exercise in maintaining personal health.
We don't know much about Box Dragon's debut game other than it'll be a "semi-stylized lush post-apocalypse" that will test "the player's strategy and humanity." It’ll also likely be made in Unreal Engine as Box Dragon’s job page notes Unreal experience is a definite plus.
Whatever they’re making, it’s currently in pre-production, but Box Dragon plans to launch into full production once they’ve filled their vacancies. After that, and if the game is successful, maybe Box Dragon will join the ever-growing Embracer family?
Thanks, Gamasutra!
