Fortnite Map Now Has Clock Counting Down To Next Event

A giant clock can now be seen suspended below Fortnite's mothership, counting down to what will likely be the game's first big event for quite some time.

Epic loves staging massive spectacles inside of Fortnite. However, it has now been a while since the last one. Almost eight months, in fact. The last event on a grand scale was Galactus's arrival on the island, bringing an end to Fortnite's Marvel-themed season.

Fortnite's big event dry spell appears to be nearing its end. The game's 17.21 update was rolled out today and it has added a giant clock to the middle of the island. The clock can be seen right below the alien mothership that has been ominously hovering above the map for the duration of its invasion season, and it appears to be counting down to something.

The countdown clock will reach zero at 6:05 pm on Friday, August 6, 2021, at which point the assumption is something pretty significant will happen. Considering the placement of the clock, and the theme that has run throughout season seven, it's probably safe to assume the ship above the island will open and something, or someone will descend from it.

Considering the rumors and reports surrounding another potential in-game concert, it's highly likely that someone could well be Ariana Grande. How exactly the singer will fit in with Fortnite's alien aesthetic is unclear, making her reveal from a spaceship even more baffling if that is what Epic has planned. It would certainly make for quite the spectacle, though.

Today's update hasn't just added a clock. It has made other tweaks and changes that appear to have further altered the island in preparation for whetever is going to happen on August 6. There are very few signs pointing to that something being Fortnite's next in-game concert. Prior to Travs Scott's musical appearance, the clues were intenionally placed by Epic. Perhaps the studio is trying to throw Fortnite players this time. Make sure you keep on top of how long you've got left to find out by keeping an eye on that clock. Honestly, it's hard not to.
