Location Of Maguu Kenki In Inazuma

Maguu Kenki is located near Serpent's Head, on Yashiori Island. You will have to make your way to Inazuma before you can face this boss.

The Best Characters To Use Against Maguu Kenki

While Maguu Kenki has no elemental weaknesses, ranged characters will be at a disadvantage for this fight. When Maguu Kenki is not performing an attack, it will automatically summon a Protective Mask when it is hit by ranged attacks, making them effectively useless.

However, Maguu Kenku's block is determined by your distance from it, meaning you can deal damage with ranged characters if you are within melee distance. For example, Ganyu can still hit the boss if she is shooting arrows from a close enough distance. Still, it's better to bring strong melee characters like Ayaka, Eula, Hu Tao, Xiao, and Diluc.

Any other melee characters that you have built will work, too. Also, bring a character that can apply shields to your team, like Zhongli, Diona, or Noelle. Having a shield will help mitigate some of this boss's high damage attacks.

How To Defeat Maguu Kenki

Maguu Kenki's unique mechanic is its Oni Mask. It will use this Mask for various attacks throughout the fight. Also, Maguu Kenki will begin the fight by using physical attacks. When it reaches around 70 percent HP, it will infuse its attacks with Anemo, and some of its attacks will deal Cryo damage. Let's take a look at each ability Maguu Kenki will use, and how to counter them.

  • Oni Mask – Protective Mask: Maguu Kenki summons an Oni Mask to protect itself from ranged attacks when it is not doing anything else. This means using ranged characters will put you at a severe disadvantage for this fight, so stick with melee characters.
  • Oni Mask – Pushing Mask: Maguu Kenki will summon the Oni Mask, then push it forward, dealing damage to anything in its path. Sprint to either side of it to avoid taking damage.

  • Oni Mask – Exploding Mask: Maguu Kenki will summon the Oni Mask on top of you, before exploding it in a large radius, dealing Cryo damage. When the boss starts to summon the mask, sprint away from it.
  • Dash: The boss will quickly dash forward or to either side. This attack doesn't do damage, but will enable the boss to get closer to you.
  • Slash: The boss will perform three consecutive slices. After each slice, he will attempt to re-aim towards you. This attack is quite slow, and can be avoided by simply dashing away, as Maguu Kenki cannot move during its duration.

  • Iai – Shadowrush: Maguu Kenki will slowly sheath its sword, entering Iai stance. After a short delay, it will rush toward you, dealing damage in its path. You can avoid this attack by sprinting to the side immediately after the boss starts to sheath its sword.
  • Whirlwind Slash: Maguu Kenki will sheath its sword, entering Iai stance before slashing in a circle around itself. Try to get as far away as you can once Maguu Kenki puts its sword in its sheath.
  • Flowing Water: The boss will slash three times towards you, creating slicing waves that will launch forward. Dash to either side and keep sprinting until the attack finishes to avoid damage.

  • Frost Dive: Maguu Kenki will summon a second sword made of Cryo before thrusting both swords into the ground, dealing Cryo damage in a large circle around itself. Once the boss starts to summon the Cryo sword, sprint as far away from it as possible.
  • Phantom – Consecutive Slash: The boss will teleport away a short distance, summoning a phantom in its place. Both will charge for a moment, then deal damage in a circle around themselves. This attack can be avoided by sprinting away from both the phantom and Maguu Kenki as soon as it teleports away.
  • Phantom – Whirlwind Slash: Maguu Kenki will sheath its sword, entering Iai stance, while summoning a phantom at its location. While its sword is sheathed, the boss will drag you towards it. After a short delay, it will attack in a small circle around itself, followed immediately by a large circular slice from the phantom. This attack can be avoided by dashing out of the whirlwind, ensuring you don't get pulled in.

  • Phantom – Flowing Water: The boss will summon the phantom, then move a short distance away. First, the phantom will launch a wave of elemental energy at you. This is followed immediately by Maguu Kenki performing three quick slices towards you, launching waves that will deal Anemo damage. Like the normal version of Flowing Water, this attack can be avoided by sprinting continuously to the side of the attack.

This may sound complex but the key is learning how to spot Maguu's moves that come before his large attacks.
