Ghost of Tsushima: How to Lock On

When Ghost of Tsushima originally launched as a PlayStation 4 exclusive in 2020, there were some complaints from gamers regarding the absence of a lock-on feature for the game. It was impossible to target one specific enemy at a time, making some players find combat scenarios less enjoyable. However, things have changed with Ghost of Tsushima's 2.04 patch that launches with the game's new Iki Island expansion, and fans can now toggle a lock-on function.

As long as Ghost of Tsushima players have access to the latest patch, they'll be able to have the new lock-on function, regardless if they're playing on PS4 or PS5. The new feature also isn't locked to the new Iki Island expansion or the Director's Cut.

How to Find the Lock-On Setting in Ghost of Tsushima

Ghost of Tsushima players will want to press the options button to enter the main menu. From there, they should head into the Gameplay section. Right underneath the 'Enable Armor Loadouts' setting, players should see an option for 'Target Lock.' It will be set to off at first, but there are two other options that players can choose from, both offering different types of ways to utilize the target lock feature.

Players can set the toggle to 'On,' which means that players can use the up button on the d-pad to toggle the lock-on feature on and off. When target lock has been activated, players will use the right stick to switch between enemy targets in Ghost of Tsushima.

As for the second option, 'Swap on Defeat,' it's essentially the same as the regular option. When Jin Sakai targets an enemy, all of his attacks will go towards that one target, which is similar to other action games with a lock-on system. But once a player defeats a targeted enemy in battle, the game will automatically lock the player on to the next available target. Players can still use the right stick to change targets, however.

Once players have the lock-on system figured out, they can continue to play through the highly praised story that Ghost of Tsushima has to offer. Or, if players have seen everything there is to see, they can explore the new Iki Island area that comes with the new Director's Cut version of Ghost of Tsushima.

Ghost of Tsushima is now available for PS4 and PS5.
