Earlier this week, Grounded‘s August content update added a variety of new buildings, quests, and more to Obsidian Entertainment’s popular survival game. These new features have given players even more to explore and discover, but they are certainly not the end of the additional content that is coming to the title. Indeed, the developer sill has plans to add many new features to Grounded, and a recently-released roadmap provides more details on what players can expect to see in the future.

To start, there are an assortment of features that are indicated as “in progress,” and it is said that their release is just “a few months off.” Among these forthcoming features are ziplines (a new building), mosquitoes (a hostile creature), bees (a neutral creature), and water-themed items, and Grounded fans can look forward to the addition of a koi pond and hedge environment as well. There are also a variety of quality of life and inventory management improvements in the works, and players can find more details on this first stage of updates below.

Beyond these fairly-imminent additions, there is an array of new content that Obsidian has “planned,” including fireflies, roly polies, and ant queens as new creatures, a full completable story, and insect pets. Fans will also see sandbox and haze environments, higher tier tools, and improvements to Grounded‘s bird during this phase of updating, and again the information that is currently available can be found at the bottom of the full story.

Furthermore, there is a batch of planned content that appears to be even further out than this previous group, and Obsidian has currently denoted it as “for the future.” This more-distant content includes additional environments, creatures, insects, and crafting materials, and there also is a clear interest in an expansion of Grounded‘s base building. The implementation of a weather system and “backyard changing events” are also listed in this phase, which are two features that will certainly excite many fans.

Finally, there is one item on the roadmap that is listed as a “future consideration,” and that is dedicated servers. As it stands, co-op in Grounded is peer-to-peer, and players that are unhappy with this configuration may be pleased to learn that Obsidian is at least looking into the possibility of an alternative. That said, it does not seem that fans will see dedicated servers very soon, with the other items on the roadmap apparently taking precedence.
