Halo Infinite Multiplayer Technical Preview Datamine Reveals Campaign Spoilers, Possible Battle Royale Mode

Halo Infinite campaign spoilers battle royale

The Multiplayer Technical Preview for Halo Infinite has been datamined, revealing campaign spoilers and hinting at a battle royale mode.

As previously reported; multiplayer will be entirely free-to-play and offered optionally as a separate download from the single-player campaign, which will remain a paid purchase. A recent trailer also discussed various multiplayer features; including gunplay, customization, Academy, the sandbox, and more.

The Multiplayer Technical Preview Overview detailed how the technical preview has been in the hands of select players and influences to help develop the game; now including more players than ever, control and technical options, customization, battle pass, and more. You can find the full show below.

However, the Technical Preview may have revealed a lot more than what the multiplayer had to offer. Datamining the preview found files that have hinted at not only the content of the single player campaign, but a battle royale mode.

The battle royale mode comes from a voice clip of Jeff Steitzer- the returning iconic voice of Halo‘s multiplayer mode. While announcing kill streaks and game modes, a ResetEra user shared a datamined file of Steitzer saying “battle royale.”

The popularity of games such as Fortnite and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, and the free-to-play multiplayer would suggest something like this was likely. However, there is still a slim chance the mode was cut during development, or the voice clip is in relation to something other than a giant last-man-standing mode. A Master Chief did previously appear as a skin in Fortnite.

Joseph Staten, the game’s Creative Director, also tweeted that 343 Industries “unintentionally included a small number of #HaloInfinite campaign files in the tech preview build. Unfortunately, these files contain spoilers.” Whether this will involve 11th hour re-writes will be unknown until launch.

Halo Infinite is launches Holiday 2021 on Windows PC (via the Microsoft Store, Steam), Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. The game will also be available on Xbox Game Pass.
