Few video games tackle boss fights half as well as Hollow Knight does. Hollow Knight was updated multiple times over the course of its lifecycle, receiving several major expansions that greatly expanded on the game. One of the earliest, Hidden Dreams, fleshes out mechanics and concepts Hollow Knight just barely touched on. Hidden Dreams not only gives the Dream Nail greater in-game use, it introduces brand new challenges for you to conquer.

The Spirit’s Glade is one of the most surreal areas in Hollow Knight, serving as a resting ground for spirits that struggle to move on. Typically, you can use your Dream Nail to enter the dreams of certain NPCs, but this doesn’t work on Spirits. Instead, the Dream Nail consumes them and rewards you with Essence (a valuable in-game currency of sorts).
The Spirit’s Glade is teeming with Spirits for your Dream Nail to pierce, but it’s also guarded by the deadly Revek. While the average Spirit will simply let you Dream Nail them without resistance, Revek will actually dodge and actively fight back. Simply Dream Nailing a single Spirit in the Glade even triggers Revek to aggro on you with a fury. There’s no real reward for defeating Revek, but it still stands out as one of Hollow Knight’s tougher challenges.
Clearing The Glade
The Spirit’s Glade can be found by the Bench closest to the Resting Ground. The Glade is a cemetery guarded by Revek, a powerful Spirit who explicitly warns you not to cause any trouble. Attempting to Dream Nail Revek at any point will simply cause him to dodge and then relentlessly attack you. There’s no way to kill him right now, so don’t even bother.

Instead, you need to ignore his warning and start Dream Nailing the Spirits in the Glade. There are a total of 18 resting Spirits in the Glade and you’ll need to Dream Nail them all while Revek chases you. The only way to get Revek off your trail is to exit the area, but that will be time consuming in the long run. You’re going to need to master your Dream Nail timing so you can kill Spirits, immediately counter Revek, and repeat the cycle over a dozen times.
Countering Revek
Revek will not stop attacking you so long as you’re in the Glade, which can make reliably Dream Nailing the rest of the Spirits reasonably difficult. The only way to counter Revek is by dodging with Sharp Shadow, Parrying him, or using the Dream Nail with the exact right timing. Whichever you choose, counting Revek will give you a brief window of opportunity to kill another Spirit.

Since Revek takes away two masks through damage, it’s important to nail down a rhythm where you can keep avoiding his attacks while still taking out Spirits. It helps to learn the layout of the Spirit’s Glade so you can have an escape plan if things go sour. That said, there’s a Bench right by the Glade so dying isn’t too punishing.
Killing Revek
Once you’ve killed all of the Spirits in the Glade, turn back to the Resting Rounds and then immediately turn back into the Glade to respawn the area. If you speak to Revek, you’ll learn that he’s forgotten his entire purpose in the afterlife now that the Spirits are all dead. If you try Dream Nailing him now, Revek will simply take it and allow himself to die. It’s a sad end for such a skilled warrior, but you did go out of your way to rip away his life’s purpose.
