How To Shrink – New Pokemon Snap

Quick Links

New Pokemon Snap is back, and it's bringing with it a whole host of new Pokemon and areas to explore. If you need more information on finding all of the new creatures to add to your Photodex, just take a look at our guide here.

In this guide we're breaking down how you can access the Secret Side Path. The Secret Side Path is a brand new mini-area that you can access by shrinking down your size. We're hopeful that this feature will be added to more stages in the near future, but for now, it's limited to only one.

Just read down below and we'll break down all the steps you need to take in order to shrink down the NEO-One and access the Secret Side Path in New Pokemon Snap. There are loads of new Pokemon waiting to be found, so don't waste any time.

How To Shrink And Find The Secret Side Path In New Pokemon Snap

If you want to find the Secret Side Path stage in New Pokemon Snap, you first need to find an access point. Once you've found the access point and gone through the stage once, it'll be unlocked on your map just like any other stage, with both Day and Night variants. The Secret Side Path will have to be unlocked and then the Research Level upgraded just like all of the other stages.

First you'll need to go to Florio Nature Park, and while this is accessible during both day and night variants, it's much easier to find during the day variant.

You will have to go through most of this stage before you actually reach the access point. Go through the first few areas towards the Bidoof dam – but do not cross either the bridge or the dam. Instead, where Pidgeot lands on the path, you'll be able to Scan a tree to your far left. This tree is only scannable for a few moments, so make it count. Once you've scanned the tree, you'll be shrunk down to size and you'll be exploring a number of hidden areas and finding new Pokemon. You will be able to see Torterra's Nest, and a bunch of Shroomish who haven't been present in the game before this point.

After you've cleared the stage once, it'll be accessible on your Research map, which skips out the first half of the Florio Nature Park stage – and will likely save you some camera film on those tempting snaps.

Where Else Can You Use The Shrink Function In New Pokemon Snap?

For now you can only access the Secret Side Path area using the NEO-One's shrink function, but it's been hinted at in-game that this is just the beginning, and hopefully we'll see more areas added to New Pokemon Snap in future updates.
