Humankind: The Best Wonders

Wonders work a little differently in Humankind. You can build them in a city but have every other city put production towards the project, as well as claiming the wonder without having to build it. Stops those pesky enemies stealing the wonder you want… if you're quick enough.

Each era has three or four wonders to choose from, and each provides its own unique benefits and boosts to your empire. Some are better than others, but it does really depend on what sort of civilization you're building. Here's a look at some of the standout wonders in Humankind.

The Pyramids of Giza – Ancient Era

Your city's industrial output is huge in Humankind. Being able to produce units and infrastructure quickly allows you to scale your cities much faster than the opponents, and the Pyramids are a top choice to get loads of bonus production in the early game.

  • The Pyramids provide a mass -25 per cent reduction on Industry Costs, which basically makes all your Maker's Quarters much cheaper.
  • It turns out the Pyramids work super well with the Egyptians. Who knew. There's a reason why they fit into our best cultures tier list.
  • The Pyramids must be placed adjacent to a River.

The Mausoleum At Halicarnassus – Classical Era

Out of all of the Classical era wonders, the Mausoleum provides the broadest benefit, providing a flat one per cent boost to science per District on either a city or outpost. It doesn't seem like a huge advantage but compared to the naval-specific boost of the Lighthouse at Alexandria, for example, and the Mausoleum suddenly looks a lot better.

  • The Mausoleum is ideal for an early science push. Getting those techs quicker can grant you Era stars or a military advantage with higher-tech units.

Angkor Wat – Medieval Era

Choosing the best wonder from the medieval era isn't so simple. The choices are…quite similar, really, with a big focus on either war support or faith. If you've gone down the faith route, though, the Angkor Wat stands out as the most powerful.

  • The Angkor Wat provides +1 Food per faith. This means you can start to really accelerate the growth of your city while making the most of any early faith benefits you've gained.

However, if you plan on going for a Medieval war, it has to be the Forbidden Palace. This gives you a flat boost of 25 War Support, which makes wars easier to declare, and easier to maintain, even with a few setbacks.

Topkapi Palace – Early Modern Era

Again, the Early Modern wonders have very specific benefits that will probably determine the one you're most likely to pick given the chance. However, in terms of long-term potential, the Topkapi Palace is a great choice.

  • A flat boost of 5 per cent Industry scales into the late-game very nicely.
  • You also get a boost of 100 per cent Industry for Shared Projects, of which there are many in the late game, including the various rocket launches that can win you the game.

Other long-term benefits from wonders include the powerful Taj Mahal. This grants you a 50 per cent boost to money from calm cities, basically cities that have 90 or above stability. This also scales very well into the later parts of the game.

Big Ben – Industrial Era

This is a tough call between Big Ben and the Eiffel Tower, but Big Ben might just take the crown for the best Industrial era wonder. The huge science buffs it provides can really set you apart from your opponents, stacking up those techs for better units or an alternative win condition.

  • Big Ben provides +10 per cent Science throughout your Empire and an extra 10 per cent for each Alliance. This can be a huge science spike.
  • That boost is then repeated on your Capital if you're in an Alliance.
  • Obviously, this is no use if you're fighting everyone.

If you are fighting everyone, then the Industry boost from the Eiffel Tower is great for unit production that could tip a war in your favor.

Sydney Opera House – Contemporary Era

There's a very good chance that your Stability is going to start taking big hits in the Contemporary era. Even the most advanced empire can fall foul to rising pollution levels, and the Sydney Opera House might provide just the extra edge you need for your cities to make it through the smoggy endgame.

  • The Sydney Opera House provides +20 Stability in cities and outposts.
  • If you do have calm cities, the Opera House will also boost all yields (Food, Industry, Money, and Science) by 10 per cent.

If you're playing the money game, the Empire State Building is a fantastic late-game push to get funds for big buyouts and unit purchases. You do need to have established a lot of trade routes, though, so not one for the warmongers.
