King’s Bounty 2: Where To Find The First Missable Loot

Quick Links

In the huge gap between the release dates of the first King's Bounty (1990) and King's Bounty 2 (2021), the world has changed greatly, as has the aspects players expect in their video games. Gamers will likely find that there is a bit of a learning curve when starting the newest game in the series, as some traits harken back to a different time.

One of these traits is the focus on preparation before battle as well as dealing with the consequences. The units that one commands in battle, when fallen, will not return, meaning that players will have to find and purchase new soldiers to keep their army strong. However, with limited money and troops in the game, it's possible for players to starve themselves of resources and have to resort to loading an earlier save.

Thankfully, King's Bounty 2 is pretty generous with the loot, though, the best treasures are still hidden from plain sight and will require some exploring to uncover. Those wishing for the most money that can be obtained in the early parts of the game should be sure to seek out the hidden room in the Albian Highlands, as it's full of loot and can be easy to miss amidst the cold and somewhat dull area.

Step 1 – Take The Right Fork When Traveling The Albian Highlands

During a part of one of the earliest quests in the game, "The Ruins of New Hope", players will come to a forked path when traveling south in the Albian Highlands. On the left will be some golems and on the right will be a slightly uphill path leading away. Take the path on the right to head towards the hidden treasure in this area.

Step 2 – Find The Abandoned Building

As players travel up this right path, they will spot a mage erecting a purple shield. This is a magic-user named Rossum, who the player will want to speak with shortly, however, solving his absurdly simple puzzle can wait, as he has nothing to do with the missable loot.

To Rossum's right, players will be able to continue through the snowy path and should stumble across an open doorway between some trees. Proceed through it to get closer to the desired goods.

Step 3 – Activate The Secret Lever

In this room, players will find precious little, which at first will feel a bit disappointing, even if one does find the meager bit of loot on the mostly-destroyed second floor.

However, the true loot is being barred by an age-old trick: a secret lever. On the ground floor, to the right of a large wardrobe, there will be a 'chandelier' that players can interact with if they are standing close enough while looking at it. Turn the ornament to open up a door to the left that was initially disguised as a bookshelf.

Step 4 – Plunder The Secret Room

Enter the newly-found doorway to find a hidden storeroom beyond that looks like it was at least partially used as a makeshift prison, as can be gleaned from the unfortunate skeleton semi-shackled to a stone wall. Fear not, however, as this skeleton is not an enemy, so one is free to plunder all the golden objects in this room.

Among many sellable items, players will find 15 Mana as well as just under 300 Gold coins, which will go a long way toward buying one's next army unit, especially at this early stage in the game.
