Leakers Claim Sly Cooper 5 Is In Development But Fans Aren’t Convinced

Several leakers have claimed that a fifth Sly Cooper game is in development for the PS5, but the Sly Cooper community isn't so sure.

Over the past few months, several posts over on GamingLeaksAndRumours have tried to convince gamers that a fifth Sly Cooper game is in the works. Each post has a different source, but all claim that same thing that a new Sly game is coming. Anyone who has frequented that subreddit will agree that each post claiming a new Sly has been tenuous at best, but a recent rumour has a bit more validity to it.

A post from Redditor JadenTheKing collects together some recent rumours on a new Sly Cooper title, including a video from YouTuber Canadian Guy Eh, an unnamed industry insider, and a Redditor named Nick Baker. This leak suggests that a new Sly game is in development, but it isn't being developed by Sucker Punch and will instead be handled by another studio.

Although this would usually be cause for celebration amongst a community, Sly Cooper fans aren't so easily convinced and seem to think that the rumours are untrue. One Sly Cooper fan shared the recent rumours on the Sly Cooper Subreddit, where it was met with almost universal doubt from the community. Redditor Ringtail said, "I'll believe it when I see it. For all I know, the leakers just found some scrapped concept art", whilst another Redditor, TheForlornGamer, said, "Bentley: "Jump and press the Square button to doubt".

This sentiment is expressed throughout the rest of the comments underneath the Reddit post, with many outright calling it a lie, or refusing to believe it without more evidence. In all fairness, the post claiming that a new game is coming has pretty limited evidence, but it also speaks to how the Sly Cooper community handles the possibility of a new game – doubt.

With Thieves in Time ending with a cliffhanger more than eight years ago, and Sanzaru Games being bought out, it's not too much of a surprise that the community is keeping its guard up.
