Life Is Strange TV Series Resurfaces, Shawn Mendes To Oversee Music

The Life is Strange television series is still happening. Legendary, the production company behind the project, has just added singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes to the show to guide its musical moments.

In an exclusive from the Hollywood Reporter, Mendes was revealed to be collaborating with Legendary via his company, Permanent Content. Both Mendes and his business partner Andrew Gertler will oversee music for the Life is Strange project as executive producers through Permanent Content. Anonymous Content, the company behind Netflix's 13 Reasons Why, is also joining the Life is Strange crew.

The Life is Strange television series was first announced back in 2016, but the project hasn't surfaced with new developments in years. Mendes' involvement marks the first time we've heard any public details about the project moving forward.

As for its namesake, the actual series continues with True Colors out this month on September 10 for most platforms, while Switch will follow later this year. The first game, which the upcoming television series is based on, will launch early next year in a Remaster Collection that comes bundled with its prequel, Before the Storm. Originally set to launch this year, Deck Nine delayed the game to "alleviate any additional pressure on the Life is Strange team."

Life is Strange isn't the only recent video game to receive the live-action treatment. Netflix continues its Witcher series this December, and the Halo series is still moving forward with its plans to debut in 2022—it's just, unfortunately, having a hard time trying to make it there.
